Serum Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein (GFAP) Reference App

Levels of serum glial fibrillary acidic protein (sGFAP) increase with age and decrease with body mass index (BMI), and are approximately 14% higher in women. The application calculates age-, sex- and BMI-adjusted sGFAP percentile values and Z scores.

These two interchangeable measures quantify the deviation of the entered sGFAP value in comparison to healthy control persons of the same age, sex and BMI, based on a reference database of 4297 persons. (Maleska Maceski et al, submitted.)

Measurement of sGFAP

Clinicians are welcome to send patients serum samples to the Multiple Sclerosis Centre at the University Hospital Basel in Switzerland for measurement of GFAP levels. Details are available in the order form below:

Adjust your values and define output

Provide age, GFAP levels, sex, and body mass index to automatically receive adjusted percentiles and Z scores.

Immediate results

Get an immediate visual representation of your data with respect to values in the GFAP reference database (i.e. versus same age healthy controls).
